Long story short
This practice, initially known as LANGBRIDGE SMITH ASSOCIATES, opened in Plumstead, Cape Town, in 1994.
Among the hundreds of projects undertaken since then, some are of regional significance, including Marconi Beam in Milnerton, and the redevelopment of the AECI farms in Somerset West.
These projects both started with large-scale subdivisions and consolidations to rationalize land holdings, and proceeded through initial subdivision into large land parcels for third-party developers, and on to final subdivision into residential, commercial, and industrial erven, as well as Sectional Title developments.
Most projects are, of course, on a smaller scale than this, and include all urban and rural cadastral work, from relocations of beacons, small and large subdivisions and Sectional Title projects, General Plan subdivisions for industrial, commercial and housing purposes, as well as detail and volumetric surveys, and engineering setting out and monitoring.
Since graduating from the University of Natal in 1980, I have worked in the Land Survey and Construction industries in Namibia, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, England, and, back in South Africa since 1990, in Durban, Johannesburg and in Cape Town since 1994. I also undertake and advise on all aspects of Planning and the Rezoning and Application processes.
